Grande Anello Valnerina - Full itinerary for people with reduced mobility
GAV-pmr The Grande Anello Valnerina is a slow travel circuit of about 45 kilometres that runs entirely through the Valnerina, the beating heart of Umbria.
The Grande Anello Valnerina is a beautiful circuit that offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the most fascinating and unspoilt corners of Umbria. The route covers a little less than 45 kilometres and connects several historic villages and natural points of interest, such as Cerreto di Spoleto, Bagni di Triponzo, Preci, Norcia, up to Serravalle. It is designed for a varied public, thanks to the possibility of choosing between routes suitable for walkers and those accessible also to those using electric vehicles, making the experience usable by all.
Another interesting aspect is that the route connects to various other itineraries and historical routes in the region, such as the Cammino di San Benedetto and the Cammino nelle Terre Mutate, but also to cycle routes such as the Spoleto-Assisi, making it an ideal intersection for those who want to discover central Italy in a sustainable way.
Although the project is not yet completed in all its parts (the final section is to be restored by recovering the former Spoleto-Norcia railway), the route is already a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the Valnerina in a relaxed and unhurried manner. In addition, the hospitality network and services designed for people with special needs show special attention to inclusiveness.
The route was conceived, designed and laid out so that even persons with reduced mobility, suitably equipped with electrically driven aids, could experience slow travel in the Valnerina, land of paths.
The route for persons with reduced mobility is mainly on asphalt, always preferring roads with as little traffic as possible.
