Grande Anello Valnerina, route for people with full mobility - Stage 1

GAV-ppm-01 The first stage of the Grande Anello Valnerina, from Borgo Cerreto to Casali Belforte.

The route begins in Borgo Cerreto where, starting from the bridge over the Vigi river, we follow the Tre Valli Umbre road (State Road 685) for a few dozen metres and immediately afterwards turn left into Via Cerretana, skirting the church of S. Maria on the right-hand side. In a short time, you enter the La Costa path.

Touching the centre of the village and passing by the Misericordia Oratory, you reach the main square and then Provincial Road 465/1. Turn left and after a few metres turn right onto Via Mammina, which you follow until you continue along Via F. Morlacchi and then Via U. Foscolo, leading to the exit of the village.
Just when you are immersed in nature, you reach a small widening where you must turn right onto a path that leads back onto SP 465/1. Follow it for a few dozen metres to reach SR 209, which must be crossed. This is a particularly dangerous crossroads due to the poor visibility that cars may have coming out of the tunnel.
Having crossed the road, turn left to reach and go through the tunnel using the path behind it.

Having returned to the asphalt road in a very short time, one enters Triponzo. Among the various alleys, one cannot fail to admire the tower of the old castle that dominates the entire village from above. And it is precisely from here that a long path leads to the famous Triponzo Baths. Set like a precious stone in the heart of the Valnerina and protected by centuries-old woods and trees, they were built in Umbria in 1887 over the ancient Roman structure. In this magical place, full of charm and history, nature offers health and wellness.

Crossing SR 209 and following along the Nera river, you arrive at the end of the stage, near the village of Casali Belforte.
